We are 4 days away from Winter Break and are sure you are just as excited to spend time with your student as we are with our families. Whether it’s visiting the Trail of Lights, attending services, or watching College football together, we love this season as our family traditions keep us grounded and remind us why we work so hard the other 50 weeks of the year.

One Smallville tradition we’ll be continuing next week is our Zombie Fun Run, which will take place on Thursday, November 19th. The weather may be a tad brisk in the morning, but we’ve got the TSBVI team prepped and they’ll be providing hot coffee for spectators. If you’ve yet to attend one, we suggest you give it a whirl as it’s fun watching these kids who are way too mature to play tag, do just that for 30 minutes. Yes, the reason we have the event is for fundraising purposes, but it’s so much fun and celebratory we most likely would have it just to have it.

“Most likely” might be a stretch.

Regardless, we love the fun this fundraiser creates. We love how we get to keep the money raised here on campus and use it however we deem necessary. As of this post, we are still $5,000 short of our $30,000 goal, so use this weekend and all next week to reach out to your friends and family and help us reach our goal! We can do wonders when we have the resources, so please tell everybody you know about our amazing school and all the amazing things we do.

Hope to see as many of y’all as possible next week on or around campus. If I do not, Happy Holidays to you and yours and here’s to a safe New Year.

Our Parents love to give!

In case you are not on facebook, we wanted to make you aware of a couple of different giving projects that our parents have organized in the spirit of giving back to our teachers and staff and others. Keep scrolling to learn about details for all options below. If you wanted to get involved, pick one, or pick them all!  Parents have asked, and organized so we thought we would share the info with you all.

  • Custodian Holiday “bonus”
  • Teacher Thank you List
  • Teacher Luncheon
  • Families in need

Custodian gift: One of our amazing parents Janine Corn was able to raise $500 from parent donations (over facebook) that she gave to our wonderful crossing guard with a nice card. Now she is at it again, trying to raise some money for our Custodians. We plan to give it to them on the 19th. If you would like to donate, you can Venmo her any amount and she will add it to what our teachers have already collected to give to our hard working custodians before they go on break. If you would like to get involved, the deadline is Monday See her details below…

Side Note:

Between all this giving and the fun run, I feel like we are over asking, especially this time of year. Please don’t feel obligated, we have such an amazing community that looks out for each other, I just wanted to make sure everyone was in the know about all that is going on.

THANK YOU to our amazing parents  and counselors that make all this happen! I hope you all have a fantastic week and a lovely and safe winter break.

If you don’t have Venmo, you can send cash to the front office and Jennifer will put the money with what the Teachers have already collected.

Other giving projects to know about:

Teacher Wish List: Another Parent, Nichole Spradling has organized a teacher giving list. She was able to ask the teachers to fill out a gift giving form so she could share with other parents so that they could give more of what the teachers like, instead of the standard “best teacher mug”. If you are interested in seeing the list, Click here

PTA Teacher Luncheon: Our Fabulous PTA is hosting a Luncheon with Bamboo Bistro for our teachers this Tuesday. They are looking for Dessert and Drink Donations as well as volunteers. Contact Rebecca Walston at to help with that.

Giving to CSMS Families in need: This one is being organised by our counselors, they are looking for gift cards of any amount to places like HEB, Walmart, Target and the like to give to those family’s that could use a little financial help during the holidays. Just drop them in the main office before Wednesday.

This is it! The last week for Fun Run!
