6th Grade Counselor: Ms.Castaneda

Hello!  I was born on a military base in Germany and moved to San Antonio when I was 5 years old.   My father retired after serving 20 years in the Air Force and we moved to Austin when I was 7 years old.   I attended AISD schools from 1st – 6th grades at Odom Elementary, 7th – 8th grades at Bedicheck Jr. High and finally graduating from Crockett High School.   After graduation I attended ACC and graduated from St. Edward’s University with a degree in education.   Since then I have earned a  Masters degree from Concordia University Texas in Administration,  School Counseling Certification, and am currently working on my Doctorate in Education from Concordia University.

I have three children who all attended schools in AISD.  My oldest daughter graduated from Crockett High School and is currently attending Texas State University studying to be an educator.  My younger children are 10th and 11th graders at Crockett High School.  I am a proud band mom who volunteers as much as possible for my children.

I am a huge proponent of trade schools and helping students understand that everyone has a path and finding what they love to do is what is most important.  I also love talking to my students about colleges and universities.  My main goal for my students is to get them thinking about a plan for after graduation.

Feel free to email or call me with any questions or concerns.

7th Grade Counselor: Ms. Diaz

Hola! I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. I am the proud daughter of immigrant parents who taught me the importance of hard work and education.  I attended the University of Texas at El Paso an earned a Bachelors in Education with a math specialization.  I am the mother of the sweetest elementary student. My trek through the world of education began at the tender age of 22 teaching math and engineering to middle school students for 11 years and now have the privilege of serving as a counselor.

Middle school students fill my heart and helping them navigate the harsh waters of adolescence is my passion. I am beyond excited to work with the students and collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators of Clint Small Middle School .

My hope is to serve as a voice and agent of change for them.  My goal that all students transition smoothly into high school with all of the tools taught to them via SEL lessons,Guidance Lessons, groups, individual counseling, AVID and in the general classroom setting.

8th Grade Counselor: Ms. Krier

I grew up in Denver, Colorado, where my family still lives and I visit every chance I get.  After graduating from Miami University in Ohio I worked in a orphanage in China for a year before moving to Austin, where I joined AmeriCorps.  After AmeriCorps, I taught math for 11 years until recently becoming a counselor.  I love working with students in this new way and getting to support students both academically and emotionally.   In my spare time I love to travel, run, be in the outdoors, cook and spend time with family and friends. I am looking forward to another great year with the 8th grade! Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
